Aim and Scope
Journal of Fundamental Movement Skills (JFMS) is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the scientific study of human movement. We strictly publish manuscripts that offer empirical evidence or systematic reviews related to the mechanics, control, and development of movement skills. The scope of JFMS specifically covers:
- Biomechanics in Sport and Exercise: Studies focusing on the mechanical laws relating to the movement or structure of living organisms. This includes kinetics (forces) and kinematics (motion) analysis to understand injury mechanisms or performance efficiency.
- Motor Control and Motor Learning: Research on the neural, physical, and behavioral aspects of movement. Topics include skill acquisition, feedback mechanisms, constraints-led approaches, Development and validation of new instruments or assessment method, and the cognitive processes underlying movement execution.
- Physical Literacy Across the Lifespan: Investigation of fundamental movement patterns (e.g., locomotor, manipulative, stability skills) from early childhood to the elderly. This includes Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD) and movement competence for health.
